In another win for the psychedelic community, San Francisco lawmakers have officially approved a measure to decriminalize psychedelics like psilocybin and ayahuasca.
While this doesn’t mean full legalization, this new resolution passed unanimously by the city’s Board of Supervisors makes growing and distributing psychedelic substances the “lowest law enforcement priority” for citizens
This also means that the city won’t allocate resources for investigations into the use and distribution of psychedelics.
With this move, San Francisco becomes the latest US city to allow full decriminalizing of psychedelic substances.
As more and more people become outspoken about the mental health and wellness benefits of psychedelics, law makers are becoming more and more open to the public interest of things like magic mushrooms, MDMA, and ayahuasca.
San Francisco joins other notable cities like Oakland; Santa Cruz, California; Denver; and Washington, D.C. to “decriminalize nature.” In 2020, Oregon became the first US state to allow for full decriminalization.
Many states are now setting up group studies to show the efficacy of psychedelics for mental health.
